About Reebok CFC Uptown
Welcome to Reebok CrossFit Charlotte-Uptown. We are committed to developing Elite Level Fitness for all athletes regardless of their conditioning when they walk through our doors. The bottom line is our training methods work if you’re willing to work with us. All you have to do is show up and our coaching staff and community of athletes will help with the rest.
We implore you to check our ego at the door, give 100% and get to know your fellow Crossfitter’s. Our goal for you is for you to thrive, not just survive, in all aspects of your life journey. From nutrition and fitness to everyday life. Our gym is our home; we treat it as our own, and care for it as such. Our box is our family and we treat the athletes, coaches, and visitors likewise, creating an environment that breeds confidence, fun, and dedication.
At Reebok CrossFit Charlotte Uptown our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Life will reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. Our program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience level. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. All will find their best fitness from the same regimen at Reebok CrossFit Charlotte-Uptown.
RCF Charlotte-Uptown is a first of its kind, elite, training facility in the Charlotte Mecklenburg region.
At its core, RCF Charlotte-Uptown is about two major points of focus;
- Providing expert training on proper functional movement to our athletes and,
- Building a deeply connected strong community
When our athletes check-in for a Workout of the Day (WOD) they instantly become a part of a team. The team is mobilized when they are given their task for the next hour, which is always challenging. They execute appropriate warm-up activities, and then receive in-depth, personalized instruction on the specific movements they will complete that day. Together they prepare themselves and at the call of “3-2-1-GO!” they take off, with enthusiasm, on a path to complete the task. They compete with each other, but mostly with themselves, to do their best and in the process; they cheer-on their fellow athletes. They cheer because any victory rings hollow if it can’t be shared with teammates.
After the WOD our athletes routinely hang around and share tips and pointers, work on their weaknesses, congratulate each other, and just catch-up on life. We believe that one of the strongest motivators to “stick-to” any work out program is to belong to a strong work out community. This would involve not only having friends at the gym, but also doing things with these people outside of the gym and we offer an extensive program of extracurricular challenges, seminars, and social events to keep our athletes engaged and motivated.
“There is no substitute for experience”
Our first CrossFit Box, “The Original” CrossFit Charlotte, was the 95th affiliate in the world back in 2007. Since that time we have developed and sharpened our craft to a fine edge. We been successful serving the needs of hundreds of everyday fitness seekers, and helped them to reach goals they never knew were possible.
Competitively, we qualified a team to CrossFit Regional events 5 times, including a team that advanced all the way to the CrossFit Games. We’ve also had individuals compete in the CrossFit Games 5 times. Our coaching staff is amongst the most experienced in the region. Owner Andy Hendel has an extensive coaching background that dates back to the early 90’s. His coaching career began as a college football defensive coordinator at Western Kentucky University. He has coached under names like Jack Harbaugh and played for coaches like Pete Caroll and Don Shula. He began coaching CrossFit back in 2006 and was part of the Level 1 Seminar Staff from 2008-2013. Our General Manager and Head Coach at Reebok, Jimmy Pitsiniagas, was original a Physical Therapist before getting into coaching back in 2008. He has extensive experience in coaching high level athletes and athletes with pre-existing issues alike.
There are over 20 CrossFit Gyms in the greater Charlotte area and the majority of our membership passes up to 5 other gyms just to come train with us at Reebok. I think that speaks volumes.
